back to it.

Today was my first workout since my 15.5 mile race last Saturday. In retrospect, perhaps not doing anything for over a week was not my smartest idea, but between sheer exhaustion after the race and a long weekend trip to Nashville, it just didn’t happen.

Let’s just say, it was a rough 2 miles. I am working on increasing my speed for my half marathon in October, so I bumped that up a bit, which I’m sure played into the struggle. Not to mention, after months of running on the indoor track and outside, switching back to the treadmill was a rough transition. I remember how much I dislike the treadmill.

For training this time around, I want to do a bit more cross training. Simply running is not going to cut it. So, after the treadmill, I hopped on a bike for 2.5 miles, then did some weights.

For those that have done longer distance races, any advice for getting back in the swing of things? Better yet, any advice as I start thinking ahead to the half marathon?
