summer has arrived.

07.7.10

Summer has truly arrived in West Michigan. It’s never a good sign for the hot day to come when it’s above 80 degrees at 7:30 in the morning.

Heat, I love.

Heat and humidity, I do not.

It’s a good thing I don’t live in the South. I don’t think I could hack it.

So, naturally, what you get for breakfast on a hot summer day is a latte, right? Okay, probably not my most brilliant idea, but it sure did taste good.

Thanks to one of my awesome students, I had a wonderful treat of rum cake for a mid-morning snack.

Delish. So much so, I may or may not have had a second piece as a mid-afternoon snack. Shh, don’t tell mom! šŸ˜‰

Lunch was small (and doesn’t really make for a pretty picture!), but tasty. I had some Morningstar Buffalo Chik’n Wings and the remainder of yesterday’s cantaloupe.

I really want to get back to running outside, but I just can’t do it when it’s hot out. I’m a bit of a self-proclaimed wimp when it comes to running and weather. Which is exactly why I have a membership to the Y. Gotta burn those calories somewhere. I did 20 minutes (1.66 miles) on the elliptical and 10 minutes (2.3 miles) on the bike, and about 15 minutes of strength training. The cardio was a bit slower than I would like, but someone made the not so wise decision to not stretch after yesterday’s workout.

Tomorrow is my first weigh-in of my Home Stretch weight loss challenge. It’s always a good idea to start a weight loss challenge right before a holiday weekend…

It’s HOT and HUMID that’s for sure. I’m going running early tomorrow – like 6am. That’s the only way I can handle it. I’ve been eating lots of cold food lately!
