i ain’t settlin’.

Well, it’s almost midnight and I’ve been home for a total of maybe 45 minutes since this morning…long enough to grab a quick dinner and a shower after my workout.

Long day, but a good day.

I got to spend some quality time with a great friend. We saw the movie Grown Ups with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, and a bunch of other great people. It was kind of slow, but had it’s funny parts. I’d wait until it comes out on DVD. Afterwards, we grabbed a beer at a local brewery and caught up on life.

While I was working out today, the song “Settlin'” by Sugarland came on my iPod. The chorus totally fits my attitude about life in general right now.

I ain’t settlin’
For just getting by
I’ve had enough so-so
For the rest of my life
Tired of shooting too low
So raise the bar high
“Just enough,” ain’t enough this time
I ain’t settlin’ for anything less than everything

I want to live the best kind of life. I want to be strong, happy, healthy, and whole. I deserve that and I want to make that happen. I feel encouraged to make strides to put in the effort to make that life and I know that means being healthy in so many ways. It’s not just about eating right and exercising, but finding a balance that includes friendship, family, hobbies, rest, and relaxation as well.

Thanks Sugarland for your inspiring words. Just what I needed today.

I love that song. Thank you, it’s a great verse to read first thing in the morning before my work out. It’s the same attitute I have been having lately. I want so much more than what I am giving myself lately. I guess we figure out the balance we need with time.
