not my smartest move.


Confession: I have a new guilty pleasure song. Round and Round by Disney teen queen Selena Gomez. It’s just so catchy! I’m also really liking Permanent December by Miley Cyrus. Pure bubblegum pop and I love it. What is your favorite guilty pleasure song right now?

The day started early…I woke up on my own a good 15 minutes before my alarm went off. That never happens! A new leaf perhaps? Haha, probably just a fluke, but a girl can hope! Breakfast was the usual bowl of cereal. Kashi GoLean! Crunch right now. I could eat that stuff every morning, I swear! It’s so tasty!

Around 11, I had a snack of some trail mix. It’s only recently I discovered I like raisins, is that weird?

My lunch plans fell through, so I just resorted to some Greek yogurt. I also had some grapes and cucumbers; I ate about half of each bowl.

My dad and stepmom drove into town to take me out to dinner tonight. They do that a couple times a month, which is nice. We went to a little hole in the wall place, the Cottage Bar. Michigan restaurants have been smoke free for only a couple of months, but this is definitely one place you can already smell a difference! Smoke just seeped out of the walls before. It’s still not perfect by any means, but getting better.

I had a black bean burger topped with guacamole, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato. It came with a side of tortilla chips and salsa. Am I the only one that considers chips and salsa a completely legit grain and veggie? Nom nom!

After dinner, I headed to the Y. It was one of those workouts that was just off. My iPod battery was dead, I had packed a tshirt when I normally run in a tank top, and it was a bit later that I usually exercise. It was about halfway through when I realized the most probable reason for my funk: I don’t think I ate enough today to properly fuel my body. Most days, I struggle to not eat too many calories, but in retrospect, I definitely didn’t eat enough today.

I was determined to keep moving for at least 30 minutes which I did. I ran for a mile (about 11:20), biked for 2.3 (10:00) and walked for the remainder of the time. It was a far cry from my best, but all I kept thinking was it’s no excuses week, so keep moving!
