the best of intentions.


I had the best of intentions when I went to bed last night. I set my alarm for 5 am to go for a pre-work run. I knew that I had an eye appointment after work, and once they dialed my eyes, I would be in no condition for a run after that.

Fast forward to 5 am: my alarm goes off and I don’t hear it at all. Slept right through it. Fast forward a little more to 6:25 am: my normal workday alarm goes off and I do hear this one. But, I also wake up to a migraine. Dislike.

I called my boss and told her I’d be in late, took some migraine medication, and promptly fell back asleep until 10 am.

Migraines always mess with my head and my appetite. I always get a bit nauseous when I have one, something that lasts a good majority of the day. I’ve been eating light today. I had some Kashi GoLean! Crunch and soy milk for a late breakfast/early lunch, and a Luna bar for a mid-afternoon snack.

I ended up rescheduling my eye appointment for tonight. I didn’t think it would go over well post-migraine. Plus, I got an even better offer: bridesmaids dress shopping for the November wedding I’m in! Way more fun than having my eyes examined, don’t you think?

Do you get migraines? What is your solution for getting rid them? I hate taking medications, so I’d love some more “natural” fixes!

    I will take a hot shower and let the water run over my head for EVER. I use a mint shampoo, so many times I will wash with that and massage gently. Again, let the water run over my head for a very long time. Then I go lay back down in bed (turn on fan) and go to sleep for an hour or so. Really takes the edge off. Does not cure it, but makes it so I can function somewhat. Migraines are the WORST. 😦
