a first for the first.

I did something I have never, ever done before this morning. I dragged myself out of bed at 6 am to go for a run. This is a day to write in the history books, people! I only did a mile, but still, this is epic. I wanted to calibrate my Nike+ after yesterday’s realization that it may not have been 100 percent accurate. I did a mile in 11:35. Not the best time, but it was my first outdoor run since May, so I’ll take it.

When I got home, I was using the steps leading from the sidewalk to my porch to stretch, when what strolls out from the car parked on the street but Pepe Le Pew! Yep, it was a skunk! That got me flying up the stairs and into the house, praying my sudden movement wasn’t enough to set him off and spray me! Wouldn’t that have been a horrible start to the morning?

After getting ready for the morning, I had a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast.

I even took the time to get out my food scale and measure the amount of peanut butter I was using! With stuff like that, I have a tendency to use far more than I should, but I was pleasantly surprised that what I originally thought would have been one serving was, in fact, less!

My friend Heidi is letting me borrow a dress for the upcoming gala I have for work. It is snug, so I need to be extra motivated for the next two weeks. I’m hoping that once the humidity (and PMS) are over, that will make a difference! As long as it doesn’t fit any tighter, though, I should be good to go. I’m going to try it on again later next week so I can do some last minute shopping if need be. I really don’t want to spend the money, though, so I’m hoping that it won’t come to that!

Have you ever had any animal encounters while you’re outside (running or otherwise)?

You definitely started September (my favorite month) on a good note. Congrats on getting an early morning run in! I love morning workouts. I don’t like having a workout looming in my mind all day. Plus, it wakes me up! Sorry to be morbid, but once on a walk, I almost stepped on a dead cat. It was horrible! I would say that your skunk adventure is much more exciting!
