make it look pretty.


So, after writing a post this morning about one of my goals for the month being to spend less on eating out, what do I do?  Order lunch in!

A few coworkers were ordering lunch from a local Italian place, Salvatore’s.  I did, however, do better with my goal of trying to follow a more vegan diet, so I got the Pesto Vittoria: penne tossed with a sauce of basil, parsley, pine nuts, romano & garlic oil.  I know, romano is cheese, but I figured that was better than a lasagna or ravioli.  It’s a step in the right direction!

It was a huge serving!  I ate it one piece at a time in hopes of eating slowly and thus, not overeating.  It worked!  I ate about a third of the bowl, so I’ve got leftovers!

All their meals come with garlic bread which is one my my biggest weaknesses.  I ate about a third of this, too.  I don’t know if I’ll finish the rest though, it wasn’t that spectacular.

In place of my afternoon Diet Coke (that’s going to be a TOUGH habit to break, people!), I broke out the tea!  It’s only been in the past couple of years that I really discovered I like tea.  I never used to, but randomly tried it one day and loved it!

I used a bag of my absolute favorite tea in the whole world:  Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane.  It’s a seasonal one, so I stock up at Christmastime!  Plus, how cute is the box with the happy polar bears!

The tea made an otherwise extremely long and quite boring afternoon at the office a little brighter!  It was only me and one other person in my department working today, so it was quiet.  Add that to a day where I didn’t have a ton to do and I was ready to go home about half an hour after lunch!

Once I finally did get home, I laced my tennis shoes back up and hit the road for a run.  I’m not really accustomed to the two workouts a day deal, so it was another tough one.  I ran somewhat aimlessly through my neighborhood and did 3 miles in about 35 minutes.  I really want to get my pace back down closer to a 10 minute mile, but I’m confident that will happen when boot camp is done.

After a long stretching session, it was time to break out the blender for what I had been craving all day:  a pumpkin pie smoothie!  YUM.  Mine had 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, 1 banana, 1/2 cup almond milk, a spoonful of almond butter, and a few shakes of pumpkin pie spice.  I threw a handful of oats on top for a good measure (and to make it look pretty!).

It completely hit the spot!  I’m going to see Easy A later this evening, so I’m planning on sneaking a snack into the theater with me (shhh, don’t tell!).  As much as that hit the spot, I know it’s going to be enough to last me through the night!

    your pumpkin pie smoothie looks so good! i need to get on making on of those. i feel ya on the diet coke addiction. I only have soda about 3 times a month.. but boy when i have it, i get refills like a crazy person.

    Fridays in more my thing–especially when they involve Say Yes to The Dress and What not To Wear marathons 🙂 but i try to make myself go out with friends.

    I’m a mix of going out and staying in. Typically I like to stay in on Fridays unless I leave directly from work for a happy hour. Saturdays can be a toss up!

    I’m going out tonight but it also depends on my mood – sometimes all I want is a quiet night at home (and an early bedtime hehe). Also, I really want to see the Easy A. Hope it’s good!
