far from exciting.

Happy Saturday, friends!

First off, I have to say that Easy A was great!  I was half expecting it to be one of those movies where they show all the funny parts in the previews, but not at all.  I was laughing a lot and I felt like it even had a pretty good message at the end.  Well worth watching!

I decided not to bring a snack in when I realized my refillable popcorn bucket expired yesterday!  I got one last use out of it while I still could.

When I got out of the movie, I had a voicemail saying there was a minor family emergency.  The driving conditions were pretty lousy on the way home from the theater and I was exhausted, so I decided to make the trip back to my hometown early this morning.  It’s only about a 45 minute drive, so it wasn’t terrible.

I stopped and grabbed a quick breakfast along the way.  I heart pancakes with syrup! 🙂

I spent the vast majority of my day sitting around the hospital which is by far one of the most unexciting things ever, but I wanted to be there for support.  Everything is going to be a-okay, but a trip to the hospital is always a bit worrisome, even if it is for something fairly minor.

I did sneak away for a bit to go grab some lunch down the street.  I did a quick walk through of the hospital cafeteria, but since I was getting lunch later in the afternoon, there wasn’t much to choose from, so I headed over to Subway.  I got a 6 inch honey oat sammie with all the veggies they had and some mustard.

I paired it with a bag of Lay’s potato chips.  For the longest time, I had always gotten Sun Chips or the Baked Lay’s, but since I learned at the Healthy Living Summit that the regular chips are the best option in terms of ingredients (just potatoes, oil, and seasonings!), I went with those.

Since I had a lot of time to sit around today, I made a significant dent in The China Study.  I’ll post my full thoughts once I’m all the way through it, but it is definitely making me think!

I got back home a little after 8 and I was so hungry!  I had some of my pesto penne and bread from yesterday’s lunch.  I put a bit of Earth Balance and some garlic powder on the bread, and threw it in the toaster oven for about 10 minutes.  It tasted so much better than how it came yesterday!

Have you read The China Study?  If so, what did you think?

I hope y’all had a more eventful Saturday than I did! 🙂

I haven’t read the China Study… one of many books on my list of to-reads though :). Sorry about the minor family emergency, but I’m glad you have such a good attitude about it!

And those pancakes are making me drool over here. To bad my throat is too sore to really be happy with them!

    Oh no, a minor emergency!
It is good to hear that everything is going to be okay though.

Youve got me craving pancakes now >.<

Sorry to hear you had to go to the hospital for something. Glad it was minor though and hope whoever is there is doing okay. 🙂

Agreed that ingredients are important and that Lays can be a fine choice!
