farewell, summer days.

Happy Monday!  After all the craziness of two trips back home in one weekend, I was even less ready for Monday morning than I usually am!  I truly could have used another day, but the office beckons, so off I went!

Today marked the first day of the last week of boot camp!  If it weren’t for the fact that the 30 degree temperature this morning proved that fall is officially here, I could almost say I’m sad for it to be done.  But, it was COLD and it’s just going to get worse as the weeks go by.  Every winter is a reminder of why I want to move out of Michigan, but every summer is a reminder of why I stay.  I need to retire at the ripe old age of 27, by myself a winter home down in Florida and hang down there six months out of the year.  If only it were that easy! Maybe someday, but for the time being, farewell, summer days. I’ll be anxiously awaiting your return!

Despite the cold air being hard on my lungs this morning, class went great!  It amazes me every day how much stronger I feel, how many more push ups, bench dips, and whatever other exercise he throws at us I can do.  One exception though:  we had to do some jump roping today and I felt severely uncoordinated.  I was catching the rope on my foot every 2 or 3 turns!

I threw together a green monster for my post-workout breakfast:  1 cup almond milk, 1 cup frozen mixed berries, a handful of spinach, a banana, and about 1 tablespoon of cacao nibs sprinkled on top!

It held me over quite nicely until lunchtime, which worked out great because I got really engrossed in what I was doing and lost track of time.  I looked at the clock and it was a little after 12!

I had one last serving of penne pesto from Friday.  Goodbye wonderful meal, you served me well!  I probably could have gotten 4 meals out of it if I had tried, but was quite content with the three I did have.  There was another piece of bread left, but it didn’t hold up nearly as well as the pasta.

Since the nice afternoons are slowly winding down, I worked while I ate and got outside awhile later for a walk on my lunch break.  I got about 1.6 miles in and a couple good hills thrown in for good measure.

When I got back, I had a serving of sesame almonds just waiting to make their way to my stomach.  So good!

I’ve got a baked potato in the oven for dinner, I just need to figure out what to have with it.  Hmm, the possibilities!  Also on tonight’s agenda is another round of hot warm yoga. My muscles are ready!!
