December 1 One Word.
Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?

2010 was a year of opportunity.

I had the opportunity to travel multiple times:  a cruise (through Tampa, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel), Nashville, twice to Chicago, Miami, and all over my own state.  I was on a plane more times in this one year almost as much as the rest of my whole life combined.

I had the opportunity to get deeply involved with the healthy living blogging community.  I had been reading several blogs for months before, but finally decided to start my own.  I went to the Healthy Living Summit where I got to meet so many amazing people, many of whom had blogs I read before and others who I started reading as a result of meeting them.

I had the opportunity to run further than I have ever run before at the River Bank Run.

I had the opportunity to stand up as maid of honor in the wedding of one of my dearest friends.

I had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite singers, Carrie Underwood.  I also saw some of my favorite artists in concert, including The Weepies, Lady Antebellum, John Mayer, Backstreet Boys, Goo Goo Dolls, and Miranda Lambert.

I had the opportunity to get involved with Girls on the Run as a SoleMate.  I’m only $7 away from my goal of $262!

I had the opportunity to do, see, and experience so much in the past year.  More than I can remember offhand.  More than I could really capture in a blog post.  I made some friends and slowly lost contact with others.  I laughed and cried.  I had my heart broken.  I felt joy.  I learned about myself.  I had countless coffee dates.  I saw sunrises and sunsets.  I developed an addiction to cute scarves.  I read great books and saw great movies.  I enjoyed time with family and friends.  I lived.

2011 will be a year of challenge.

I want to challenge myself with furthering my education, with minimizing the amount of junk I’ve accumulated in my life, to take on the hobbies I’ve wanted to learn for so long (such as playing the guitar), to make a budget and actually stick to it, to be happier (à la Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project), to start volunteering with nonprofit organizations I love, and so much more.

2010 was an epic year and I cannot wait to see what 2011 has in store for me.

Reverb 10 is an annual event and online initiative to reflect on your year and manifest what’s next. The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect on what’s happened, and to send out reverberations for the year ahead. With Reverb 10, we’ll do both.
