rookie mistake.

Well, in the excitement of starting to feel healthy again and actually want some real food, I left my camera at home. Right on my nightstand where I looked at it last night and thought I would certainly remember it in the morning.  Fail.  Rookie blogger mistake.  Let’s be honest for a minute, though.  I’m eating food beyond Saltines again, but it’s far from exciting.  Breakfast was a bagel.  Lunch is leftover macaroni and cheese.  Kinda lame to photograph.

Sign number one I know I’m not back to my usual healthy self?  My coffee tasted absolutely disgusting this morning.  It’s a sad day when I am not feeling the java.  I’m trying to brainstorm ways to get a little low-key, involves minimal energy, exercise in now that I’m starting to get better, but still not up for cardio.  Methinks breaking out a yoga DVD might be in order.  I know yoga can be an intense workout, but it can also be calming and relaxing, which is just the thing I need right now.

So, how about catching up on some Reverb10 prompts?

Moment. Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors)

The first thing that comes to mind is in February when I was on my cruise.  To be exact, it was when we were in Cozumel for the day.  There was something about the resort we spent the day at that felt so much like paradise.  The warm water lapping around my feet and the grit of sand underneath.  The sticky sweat after lounging in the sunshine.  The joyful yells of children playing in the pool and the relaxed conversation of parents watching over them.  The vibrant blue of the water.  The sweetness of an icy cold margarita.  The itch of the hammock and the softness of the beach blanket.  The laid back sounds of Jack Johnson emanating from my iPod.  The crisp pages of the book I was reading.  The sailboats anchored down the beach.  The pinkish/purple sky of the sunset.

Wonder. How did you cultivate a sense of wonder in your life this year?

I always feel wonder when I learn, particularly about things that are so much bigger than myself, be it the universe and galaxies or the complexities of the human body.  Such deeply intertwined, bigger than the imagination are so amazing to me.  I fully believe there is so much that we have yet to learn, to discover.  I know I definitely didn’t take full advantage of the opportunity to learn as I could have this year, but it is definitely something I hope to do more of in 2011.  I want to learn, to discover, to be in awe of God’s creation.

Make. What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it?

Beyond food, I am hard-pressed to think of the last thing I created…and, being a crafty person, that saddens me.  One thing I would love to catch up on in my scrapbook.  It’s something I love doing, but it is such a time consuming project that I often push it aside.  In 2011, I would love to make it a priority to catch up on my life via my scrapbook.  I have a lot of years to catch up on, so I’m slightly doubtful it will happen, but I know it won’t if I keep that attitude.

Community. Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011?

I feel like it is almost a cliche answer, but hands down, the “healthy living” blogging community.  It is an amazing group of people who welcomed me in like I had been there all along.  I had the opportunity to connect face-to-face with many of those people at the Healthy Living Summit in August.  I know I can always turn to my Tweeps for instant gratification if I need an encouraging word or motivation.  I’ve learned so much about how to live the best kind of life through this community and I learn more all the time.  In 2011, I would love to more deeply connect with the group of high school girls I mentor.  They are absolutely amazing and the more I get to know them, the more I realize that.

For my “feeling alive” post, I listed something totally depressing. Your post reminded me that I had a great moment on a cruise, too. Thanks for the memories!

This is the last thing I made: a personalized shadowbox for my mom for Christmas. She is going to love it!
