we can dance if we want to.

I spent a good chunk of time last night working on my budget for 2011.  My biggest focus was saving money for a new car.  Mine (affectionately known as Regina) is a 2001 with over 126,00 miles, so she’s getting up there.  I definitely think (hope) I can get a couple more years out of her, but I also need to be preparing for the day when I need to buy something different.  I’ve still got some tweaking to do, but I’m getting there.

While I budgeted my life away, I ate some leftover pizza.  Definite sign I’m starting to feel better if pizza sounds yummy.

For your viewing enjoyment, the Glee rendition of Safety Dance, which I’ve been listening to on repeat. I’ve had this in my head since yesterday morning.  Love Artie.  The world needs more Arties.

Speaking of Glee, loved the Christmas episode last night.  I got quite teary-eyed at the end with Artie and the whole “walking” scene.  And, by teary-eyed, I mean there were lots of actual tears.

While I realized I am feeling better given the pizza for dinner, sign in the wrong direction:  I was up almost all night with a horrible, sounds like I’ve smoked 40 years, nasty cough.

I’m exhausted this morning.  Bring on the morning coffee run.

Your daily reminder from my coffee cup:  be happy.

Okay, maybe that’s more my reminder because I’m slightly cranky today between the lack of sleep and the ongoing not feeling well.

Do you have a budget?  Any tips for actually sticking to it? Making the budget is not so hard…following it?  That I struggle with.

I do have a budget but I just made it very basic in Excel. Across the top I have my pay dates with the amount, and then down the left side I have all my fixed expenses so that I know what I have left over after I pay all my bills. I consider savings as an expense, and I have an ING account so it automatically comes out every time I get paid.

We have a very loose budget. We try to keep to a certain amount and control spending on certain things, but I know we could crack down and track it more closely too in order to really save more. It’s such a hard thing to stay on top of though.

Thank you for the Artie clip! I still haven’t seen last night’s episode, but I cannot wait to see it. I have been watching lots of Bones lately, so I think Glee will be a welcomed break from looking at corpses.
